Klein UMC Mission Ministry offer many
Opportunities to Serve God in the Community:

Klein United Methodist Church Missions team involves volunteer work and outreach in the community.  There are a variety of ways in which you can become involved.

We close every worship service on Sundays by responding to a question posed by our pastor, who says, "Our gathering will soon be over, where will we go and what will we do?" We respond by saying, "We will go out to be God's people in the world."

As we leave the Sanctuary on Sunday and begin our week, we are charged with this holy task...being God's people in the world. We represent God in a myriad of ways...in the work place, our homes and neighborhoods, and in the market place As disciples we ask ourselves everyday, "How can I be God's person in the world today? How can I serve the One who gave his Son to the world, who lived and died for me?" This might seem like a very heavy burden to bear, but we actually find great joy in being God's person in the world.

Northwest Assistance Ministries
Klein United Methodist Church is a covenant and founding church of Northwest Assistance Ministries.  NAM is an ecumenical ministry that reaches out to the needy in the North Houston area. They provide assistance with food, clothing, counseling, job training, and basic health services. As one of the covenant churches, we participate in this ministry by collecting donations of clothing, groceries and household furnishings. Volunteers are always needed and are trained by NAM.

You can become a volunteer for Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) Meals on Wheels. The Meals on Wheels program provides hot, nutritious lunches to area homebound seniors and disabled individuals. We are in need of additional drivers to adopt a two hour Meals on Wheels route. You can commit to driving once a month or more and your commitment can easily be accomplished over a long lunch hour. You can directly touch the lives of those in need right here in our community.  The NAM Resale Shop and Donation Center at 3645 FM 1960 West needs volunteers to help sort, stock and price clothing, furniture, household items, books, linens, sports equipment and other donated items.

For more information about volunteer opportunities, please contact Linda Fullerton, NAM's Volunteer Coordinator, at 281-885-4609 or email lfullerton@namonline.org or Johanna Langston at arlkjl1960@aol.com, Harriet Summerville at csummerville@comcast.net or Katie Hitchcock at drhcjh@sb.global.net

Community Missions and Adult Mission Trips
Klein United Methodist Church works in a variety of ways to meet the needs of our neighbors.  There are many ways you can volunteer to serve and meet the needs of your neighbors. You do not need to be an "expert" in any field; you merely need to be willing to serve others.  Some of our projects take place within our immediate neighborhood.  Other projects are week-long projects, scheduled in the spring to provide construction, repairs, painting, and other tasks for a needy area in the US or Mexico. People with all levels of experience are invited to participate.

For more information contact George Matthews at georgematthews@cwland.com or Don Hitchcock at drhcjh@sb.global.net

Interfaith Hospitality Network
IHN is a program facilitated by Northwest Assistance Ministries. Klein UMC provides comfortable housing, breakfast and dinner for a week for families of our community who are temporarily homeless and meet NAM criteria. You are invited to help prepare meals or stay as an overnight host.

 Love for Christ
Is a group of adults and youth who help minister to the Conroe Salvation Army on the second Sunday of each month by preparing and serving lunch and providing a short devotional. They also minister through Trinity Episcopal Church's Lord of the Streets program several times a year, providing collected toiletry items, bottled water, insect repellent and other items. LFC collects food (individually wrapped, single serving cans, single serve drink, etc.) and prepares "Street Snacks" bags enabling our congregation to minister to the homeless they pass on the street corner.

Kroger: Neighbor to Neighbor Program is a program that connects Kroger customers with the Love For Christ Mission Team. When you scan your Kroger card, a donation is made to the LFC Team to be used to help those in need.  (more)
