As a native Texan who has only lived in Texas - except when my husband’s job took us overseas, I was raised in the oil patch. I have no real place I call home - except Texas! I am a third or fourth generation Methodist, at least on one side of my family. I had the good fortune to be raised in churches that fostered my love for music and made use of my abilities in choirs, instrumental groups, handbells, and piano from a young age. Most of my informative years were spent in Seguin at First United Methodist Church. From there I went to Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth where I got my Bachelor’s Degree in Religion. Shortly after that I married and then began moving around Texas and the world. Jay and I have three children who also have been involved in the music program here at Klein..
But my passion for music, church work, and family have always been a part of my life. I have done lots of volunteer jobs in many churches over the years. We joined Klein UMC August of 2000; and on that particular Sunday, the Music Director was looking for someone to lead Small Wonders. I volunteered and from there I got more and more involved in the music department and when my predecessor retired, I applied for the job. That’s how I got here in this position.
Currently my passions still revolve around family although my children are either working or finishing up in college. I am very involved in the Piecemakers, our quilt group here at the church and participate in Bible studies when I can. Usually you can find me, in the music department either singing, playing, or working. What a joy to have a job that fills me with such pleasure and gives me the ability to serve!
